Mid-Atlantic Food, Beverage, and Lodging Expo: Chesapeake Chefs Challenge
Timonium Fairgrounds: Chefs and culinary students from all over the region measured their skills and preparation techniques to win culinary honors in a two-day ACF sanctioned culinary competition; and Stratford University – Baltimore Campus reclaimed its Regional Leadership Position by winning big!
Head Coach Chef Carla Skornik, CEC with assistant Chef Leo Dilling and Chef Gene Lampione started with a team of 12 and six weeks later only three students were declared fit for competition.
Stratford Senior Kyle Brocht, Stratford University 2017 Winner of the Battle of the Champignons, won 1st place: ACF Student Gold Medal. Stratford Juniors Tavia McNeil and David Vaughn—each in their first competition ever—took home ACF Student Silver Medals.
Chef Instructor Gene Lampione, in his first competition ever, won the ACF Gold and overall 3rd place. Chef Lampione showed everyone how it is done with a winning formula of focus, passion, commitment, skills, and practice!
Stratford southern campuses were represented by last year’s Gold Medalist Chef Eric Yeager, CEC. We congratulate Chef Yeager on his outstanding ACF Silver Medal this year.
Congratulations to all Stratford winners on a job well done.
