Why Stratford ESL?
Graduates meet the language proficiency requirement for Stratford's degree programs without further language testing.
The Stratford Language Institute delivers an English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) program that gives you the language skills to succeed in one of Stratford University's many degree programs, in the workplace, or in personal activities of your choosing.
An Innovative Curriculum
The program uses an integrated methodology that accelerates the learning process. Classroom materials are often drawn from authentic outside sources, making the lessons engaging and relevant, and our core textbooks use research-based contextualized grammar from Cambridge University’s billion-word English corpus. Students use all four skills (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) together in the core classes, and students produce original work using the active skills that require students to make meaning on their own.
Stratford employs experienced ESL teachers who have at least a Master's degree in Teaching English as a Second or Other Language (TESOL) or Linguistics, or the equivalent course work.
Frequent language evaluation allows you to progress to the next module at your own pace. All evaluation instruments have been validated to be accurate assessments of your English skills with a high correlation to TOEFL test scores and the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR).
