  • Virus of the Week: Anna Kournikova VBS. A visual basic script hidden as a picture e-mail attachment
    • Subject:"Here you have, ;O)"
    • Body: "Hi: Check this out!"
    • Attachment: AnnaKournakova.jpg.vbs
  • What can you do to protect yourself?
    • Install latest Virus Protection software (McAfee or Norton). Best protection.
    • Uninstall Windows Scripting Host. Works for VBS viruses only. I use this when working with viruses.
    • Make the registered extensions visible, so you can see the vbs extensions. Go to Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options. Uncheck "Hide file extensions for known file types."
  • 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Judgment against Napster. Site may be shut down until the trial is resolved.
  • How can you get MP3 files?
    • Download from Napster while it is still operational
    • Convert your own CDs to MP3 format with "MP3 ripper" software. Check out MP3.com.
  • What can you do with all those MP3 songs?
    • Over 120 MP3 songs will fit on a CD.
    • Burn a CD using a read/write CD burner. Free up hard drive space. Create playlists with subdirectories. Create image of CD on hard drive first. Then copy all subdirectories in one session to a write-once CD.
    • Get a portable MP3 CD player. (Mambo X P300 is about $159.00)
    • You can also play them directly from your hard drive or CD with your computer using an MP3 player. like Windows Media, RealAudio, or WinAmp (my favorite).
  • Book of the Week: Website Design Make Easy by Dennis Gaskill. Take a look at his Website. All sorts of tips and free graphics and a newsletter.
