Technology Requirements for Online Courses

 

In general, students enrolling in online course should be comfortable using the computers and browsing on Internet. Students should also have a basic understanding of how to send and receive emails (with and without attachments). If you have any concerns about your technical ability to take an online course, please contact your advisor and seek guidance.

 

Minimum Hardware Requirements:

Students taking an online course will need access to a computer and an Internet connection.

 

Recommended Specifications:

Following minimum hardware and software specifications are recommended:

Online classes may also have audio components, which will require the following:

Speakers and microphone, or a headset (to use computer audio)

Broadband Internet Connection for online access (Check with your service Provider for what speeds are available in your area) Examples of broadband include but are not limited to: Cable, DSL, Fiber optics, Satellite…)

Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater (Later versions of Netscape work as well) or Firefox

Software Requirements

MS Office or OpenOffice

Adobe Acrobat Reader

Windows Media Player / Real Player
