Career Services For Students
Career Education Services
The Career Development Office offers career education workshops on a group or individual basis. Workshops focus on resume editing and review, job leads, job search methods (traditional and online), interview preparation and role play, salary negotiation skills and career development strategy. Career advising may also come from deans, program directors and others in leadership positions.
Resume Review
Student resumes are reviewed and edited for form and content. Sample resumes are provided to students along with a discussion of different resume styles, layouts and formats. Students can walk-in during the business hours and receive assistance. Prior appointments are recommended and can be made by contacting the career services office.
Job Leads
Job Boards are kept in each department and in the Career and Student Services Office. Job leads, job fair information and various career-related announcements and articles are also sent to students via email.
Job Search Methods
Information is made available to students about traditional and online job search methods. Recommendations and evaluations from the Career and Student Services Office are made based on each student’s individual needs and desired career track.
Interview Prep and Role Play
An Interview Skills packet is available to students requesting assistance. Interview role play is offered on an individual or group basis. Salary negotiation skills are also discussed.
Career Strategy Development
Career Strategy advice and recommendations are available from the Career and Student Services Office. Students learn about targeting specific markets based on program of study and career history.
Career Fairs
On-campus Career Fairs are generally held semi-annually to coincide with graduation ceremonies in June and December. Additional visits from employers and career spotlight events occur throughout the year. Please contact the Career and Student Services office for a calendar of events.
Exit Interview
All graduating students have the opportunity to participate in an exit interview with the Career and Student Services Office as part of the Stratford University Academic Check Out process. During the interview the students is given orientation about the available assistance. The students are also given a chance to reflect on their experiences at Stratford University to help us better understand the needs of our students. Job placement information is also obtained during this interview.
Alumni
Career-long placement assistance is available to alumni, including access to job leads and on campus career fairs.
