What are the online admissions requirements?
The University does not differentiate admission, graduation, and program requirements between online programs and residential programs. The admission process for an online program is the same as for a residential program. Please visit our Admissions page for further information.

What are some typical online activities?
In an online environment, students work independently, completing Internet-based reading assignments and communicating with instructors and other students by email and discussion boards. The courses are delivered through asynchronous classroom hours and virtual faculty office hours. Synchronous review sessions and chats may also be scheduled to facilitate learning. Weekly homework assignments are submitted online and students are required to complete quizzes, examinations, and other assignments using the distance learning platform.

What type of degree will I receive?
The online program is equivalent in all ways to the residential program. The same academic rigor, that is applied to the residential program, is applied to the online program. The diploma that you will receive after completion of the degree will not indicate that you took an online program. It will the be same diploma that is given to all graduates.

Is there an online orientation prior to class?
Yes. All new students are required to take the Distance Learning Orientation when they enroll for the first online course. The orientation is provided to the students at no cost.

What are the requirements for my computer?
See the Online Computer Requirements section for a list of computer requirements. Nearly all contemporary computers meet these requirements.

When will I be able to log in to my online class?
You are required to login to class when the new quarter begins on Monday, and begin working as soon as possible. This means that you should have already gotten your textbook so that you do not fall behind! You will NOT be able to login to Moodle before the start of the quarter.

What is Moodle?
Moodle is a Learning Management System (LMS) where students can download resource materials and interact with activities established by their course instructors. Stratford University uses Moodle to teach online classes and to support the teaching and learning in hybrid classes. All activities for online classes take place in Moodle. You don’t have to come to campus for the online class. On the other hand, you have to come to campus to take the face-to-face component of the online classes. But, the hybrid classes have additional activities that must be completed online using Moodle.

How do I login to Moodle?
You use the following link to access Moodle: http://online.stratford.edu

Who needs to have access to Moodle?
All students registered for classes at Stratford University require a Moodle account. Online students use it to access their courses and do many activities. Even if you are not taking online courses, you still need the username and password to access the supplemental materials and threaded discussions set up by your instructor.

Do I need a username and password?
Yes. Username and Password are required to log on to Moodle. The username and password are case-sensitive, which means that you must type in any capital characters as uppercase.

How do I get my Moodle account username and password?
Stratford University IT Helpdesk will send you your account upon registration. The account will be sent to the personal email that you provide to registrar. You must make sure that the email is correct and valid. Sometimes, the email sent by the IT helpdesk may go to your spam. That means, you have to check your junkmail folder if you don’t find the email in your inbox. You should make sure to contact the helpdesk (servicedesk@stratford.edu) if you check your email and do not find your account.

What must I do when I receive my user account?
After you receive your user account you must make sure to login to Moodle (http://online.stratford.edu). It is very essential to do so as you can be enrolled to your class only if you login to Moodle and your professor locates you.
If you are a new user you are recommended to enroll yourself to the online student orientation to get familiar with Moodle.

How do I get access to my Moodle Shell in a Hybrid Class?
Your instructor enrolls you to your hybrid class if you already logged into Moodle. If you did not login to Moodle, the professor can’t find your name. You have to discuss with your professor to find out whether you are enrolled to your class. You will also see the class listed in your course list in Moodle when you are enrolled.

You have access to your class immediately after your professor enrolls you to the class.

How do I get access to my Moodle Shell in an Online Class?
The school will enroll you to your online class and you will have access to your class when the new quarter begins on Monday if you have logged into Moodle at least once before the start date. If you are a new user and you login to Moodle on or after the first day of class, you will have to wait for 30 – 45 minutes before your online class becomes available to you.
